1. Over-Compression

While compression is essential, overdoing it can suck the life out of your mix. Use your ears and aim for a natural sound.

2. Ignoring Frequency Balance

A well-balanced mix has clarity across all frequency ranges. Use EQ to carve out space for each instrument, ensuring nothing is too muddy or too harsh.

3. Neglecting Panning

A mono mix can feel cluttered. Use panning to create width and separation between instruments, giving each element its own space in the stereo field.

4. Relying Solely on Visuals

Meters and analyzers are helpful, but don't rely on them exclusively. Trust your ears above all else.

5. Mixing at High Volumes

Mixing too loud can lead to ear fatigue and poor judgment. Keep your levels moderate and take regular breaks to maintain perspective.
